Fire Blending Modes: Screen vs Linear Dodge (Add)

Composite black-background fire assets from our Raw Clips VFX Vault:

• Use Screen for subtle background torches and campfire flames to preserve color saturation.
• Use Linear Dodge (Add) for intense explosions and muzzle flashes where you want the fiery core to blow out to white naturally.

Simulating Ambient Light Reflection on Actors

A composite fails if the fire does not illuminate surrounding geometry. Place an orange-tinted Point Light or adjustment layer with an animated wiggle expression (wiggle(8, 20)) over the actor to cast dynamic flickering firelight across their clothing and face.

Adding Turbulent Heat Shimmer Displacement

Create an adjustment layer above the fire element. Apply Turbulent Noise (animated with time*150) and link it to a Displacement Map to warp background pixels, simulating hot rising thermal currents.
