What is a Motion Graphics Template (.MOGRT)?

A .MOGRT is an encapsulated After Effects project package designed for video editors in Premiere Pro. It packages complex 3D animations, expressions, and motion graphics into a single file while exposing customizable controls (text fields, color pickers, font dropdowns, and sliders) in the Essential Graphics panel.

How to Install MOGRT Files (Single & Batch)

• Single File Install: Open the Essential Graphics panel in Premiere Pro (Window > Essential Graphics), click the + (Install Motion Graphics Template) button at the bottom right, and select your .mogrt file.
• Batch Install (Recommended): Copy all your .mogrt files into the default Adobe template directory:
  Windows: C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Common\Motion Graphics Templates\
  macOS: /Users/[User]/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Common/Motion Graphics Templates/

Customizing Essential Properties & Responsive Timing

Drag the MOGRT from Essential Graphics onto your timeline. Click on the clip to open the Edit tab. Adjust text copy, change branding colors, and toggle UI switches. High-quality MOGRTs feature Responsive Design - Time, meaning you can stretch or shorten the clip duration on your timeline without warping the intro and outro animations.

Fixing Slow MOGRT Timeline Playback

If complex After Effects expressions in the MOGRT cause stuttering:

• Set In and Out points around the MOGRT on your timeline (I and O).
• Go to Sequence > Render In to Out to generate a green RAM preview cache.
• Right-click the rendered clip and choose Render and Replace... to lock it into a fast ProRes video layer.
