Why Atmospheric Particles Create Cinematic Depth
Clean digital camera sensors often make indoor studio scenes feel sterile. In real rooms, microscopic dust motes float through sunbeams. Compositing subtle floating dust particles adds physical texture and grounds 3D motion graphics in realistic atmosphere.
How to Composite 4K Dust Overlays
- Import a 4K black-background dust clip from our Raw Clips Library.
- Place it above your video footage or title graphics.
- Change Blend Mode to Screen or Linear Dodge (Add).
- Apply a subtle Gaussian Blur (Radius: 2–4px) if the particles look too sharp compared to your camera lens focus.
Color Matching Particles to Scene Lighting
Apply Hue/Saturation or Color Balance to tint particles. In warm sunset scenes, tint particles golden-amber; in moody sci-fi scenes, tint them cold cyan or steel blue.

Ensure the particles are animated and floating slowly across the frame with slight depth-of-field blur rather than staying static.
