How to Import External Assets on Desktop and Mobile

• CapCut Desktop: Click Import in the top-left Media panel. Drag files into your project bin. Create custom folders (e.g., SFX, B-Roll, Emojis) to keep assets organized.
• CapCut Mobile: Save downloaded assets from our Editing Assets Vault to your phone’s Camera Roll or Files app. In CapCut Mobile, tap Overlay > Add Overlay to import images or videos with transparency.

Mastering Overlay Blend Modes

When applying black-background video overlays (such as film dust, fire sparks, or VHS noise), select the overlay clip, navigate to the Video > Basic > Blend Mode dropdown, and switch from Normal to Screen or Filter. This instantly knocks out the black background without chroma keying.
